Overview: Addressing the Global Water Crisis

With over 40% of the global population facing water scarcity, and more than 2 billion people lacking access to safe drinking water, our mission targets the most vulnerable communities in Uganda and beyond.

By providing clean water, we aim to meet a fundamental human need while driving transformative change. Access to reliable, local water sources does more than just quench thirst—it fuels progress. It enables communities to focus on education, work, and farming, while reducing the long and often dangerous journeys traditionally needed to find water. This, in turn, promotes better health and economic stability.

Our efforts go beyond just building wells. We are deeply committed to empowering local communities by equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage and sustain their water supplies. This approach not only fosters self-reliance but also aligns with our broader goal of eliminating poverty through sustainable development.

Our ACHIEVEMENTS

Alsalam Charity has made significant strides in implementing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives across multiple regions in Uganda. However, the global challenge of relying on stagnant and unsanitized water continues to pose severe health risks and intensifies social issues. Alarmingly, 80% of those tasked with fetching water are children and women, diverting them from education and productive work.

To maximize our impact, we collaborate closely with local partners who perform thorough site assessments, followed by comprehensive surveys to ensure we address the most urgent needs. In 2023, our efforts culminated in the successful installation of mechanical borehole wells and solar-powered electric wells, strategically located to serve communities most in need. These initiatives have provided sustainable, clean water access, significantly improving the quality of life in Uganda.
